Marvel gets its first Best Picture nom with ‘Black Panther’

Marvel Studios picked up its first Best Picture Oscar nomination this morning, when Black Panther and producer Kevin Feige were nominated for the coveted award.

Black Panther picked up six other nominations, with nods for Costume Design, Production Design, Original Song, Original Score, Sound Mixing and Sound Editing.

Meanwhile, Avengers: Infinity War also picked up a nomination, for Best Visual Effects. Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse was nominated for Best Animated Feature.

The Favourite and Roma lead the awards nominations with ten apiece. A Star Is Born and Vice each have eight nominations.

Spike Lee picked up his first Best Director nomination, among six noms for BlacKkKlansman. Meanwhile, Amy Adams received her sixth nomination (no wins so far) for Vice.
